Simulation Engineer (CAE)

About the role

As a Simulation Engineer, you work with simulation, modeling and analysis of mechanical structures and systems throughout the product lifecycle – from concept and dimensioning to verification of the finished product.

You contribute deep technical expertise in calculation and work closely with design engineers, test and verification engineers as well as project and systems teams. The work can cover both static and dynamic analyses as well as the link between simulation and physical testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical calculations and CAE analyses (FEM/FEA)

• Static and dynamic strength calculations

• Impact, crash and transient analyses

• Modeling and simulation of complex events and load cases

• Build and maintain simulation models based on CAD data

• Interpret, analyze and present simulation results

• Provide design-optimization recommendations to engineering

• Take part in requirements work, verification and design reviews

• Document analyses and ensure traceability to requirements

• Collaborate with test activities for correlation between simulation and testing

• In some assignments: present results to the client and act as technical contact

As a consultant, you are self-driven, responsible and comfortable working in new environments and projects with high technical demands.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in mechanical engineering, engineering physics or vehicle engineering

• At least 2–5+ years' experience in calculation and simulation work

• Knowledge of mechanics, strength of materials and material behavior

• Experience with CAE tools: LS-DYNA, Abaqus, ANSYS, Nastran

• Skills in pre- and post-processors (ANSA, HyperMesh, META)

• Structured, analytical and independent way of working

• Fluent Swedish and English, spoken and written

Nice to have

• Experience of dynamics, impact, crash or explosion simulation

• Composite materials and non-linear analyses

• SPH, CFD or multiphysics simulations

• Python or Matlab programming

• Simulation automation, scripting and version control (Git)

• Work in security-classified or regulated environments
