Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you work with mechanical design throughout the entire product development chain – from concept and detailed design to prototype, test, industrialization and production support.

You collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines such as electronics, software, production, procurement and suppliers to ensure robust, cost-effective and manufacturable solutions. The role can include both new development and further development of existing products and systems.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design at system and component level

• Production of 3D models, drawings and assemblies

• Arrangement, layout and placement of components

• Design in materials such as steel, aluminum and plastic

• Ensure manufacturability with regard to production methods

• Collaboration with production, test/lab and suppliers

• Participation in prototyping, verification and testing

• Support to production, installation and change management

• Documentation and administration in PLM and CAD systems

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc in mechanical engineering or equivalent

• 1–5+ years' experience of mechanical design

• Strong skills in 3D CAD (Creo, Catia V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)

• Experience of drafting, tolerances and technical documentation

• Understanding of mechanical principles, materials science and design for manufacturing

• Good communication skills in Swedish and English

Nice to have

• Experience from industry or technology-intensive sectors

• Experience of PLM systems such as Windchill

• Knowledge of mechatronics, electronics or system integration

• Experience of classification rules, standards or regulatory requirements

• Previous work with prototype and test activities
